Hi there. I am so glad you’re here. My name is Haylee (they/she) and I am a therapist who specializes in body image and disordered eating, PTSD and trauma (including religious trauma), neurodivergence, gender and sexual identity, and chronic pain and illness.
As a therapist, my focus is on you, the client. Good therapy is non-hierarchical and collaborative between therapist and client. Additionally, therapists must acknowledge that the personal is political. Historically, mental health care has existed in an uninterrupted racist, patriarchal, heteronormative, ableist framework. In my practice, we focus on fostering self-compassion and tools to cope in spite of systemic inequities and injustice.
I went to school at the Utah Valley University in Orem, Utah studying behavioral science and psychology. While there, I had the opportunity to work in a residential facility treating women with eating disorders; this is truly where I fell in love with the amazing transformation process of healing in community and solidarity. I then moved to Seattle to study Social Work at the University of Washington. During my schooling I worked in community mental health and youth housing. After completing graduate school, I worked in higher levels of care specializing in learning Dialectical Behavior Therapy and working with patients experiencing eating disorders., trauma, and mood disorders (depression, anxiety, bipolar). Each individual that I have come across in my life has been a tremendous part of my learning about the human experience and what it means to be a good human. My therapeutic work is part of what it means to me to be a good human.
Other parts of what it means to me to be a good human is being in compassionate relationship with my partner. She and I also have the wonderful privilege of loving and raising 5 wondrous cats. 3 of our cats are named after my favorite play, the Importance of Being Earnest, another is a Greek Goddess, and another a favorite floral herb. These beings support me make my life worth living. They truly inspire me.
I believe that healing happens in community. When you and I work together in therapy, we are developing that community. In therapy we will build a genuine relationship that prioritizes your healing, safety, and growth. Searching for peace within yourself is a courageous step on the path of healing. I’m looking forward to the opportunity to walk on that path with you. Take care.
